What Is Floatation Therapy?

You step into a tank roughly the size of a large bathtub, filled with water heated to skin temperature and saturated with hundreds of kilograms of Epsom salt. The salt concentration is so high you float effortlessly — like the Dead Sea, but in a controlled, lightless, soundless environment.

The idea is sensory deprivation. No light, no sound, no gravity, no temperature difference between your skin and the water. Your brain stops processing external stimuli and drops into a deeply relaxed state. Research has linked float therapy to reduced cortisol levels, lower blood pressure, and relief from chronic pain conditions.

The Experience

Blissful Float Spa keeps things straightforward. You book a session (typically 60 minutes), shower, step into the tank, and float. Earplugs are provided. You control the lighting and can leave the tank lid open if enclosed spaces aren’t your thing.

After the float, the infrared sauna is worth adding. Unlike a traditional sauna that heats the air, infrared panels heat your body directly — lower ambient temperature, deeper tissue warmth.

Practical Notes

• Sessions run Monday to Friday 10am–8pm, Saturday 9am–8pm, Sunday 12pm–8pm
• First-timers get a full walkthrough before their session
• Bring a comb or brush — the salt does things to your hair
• Avoid shaving or fake tan before a session (the salt stings on broken skin)
