The Elm Tree
Big, buzzy Surbiton pub with five sports screens, weekly jam nights, a proper work-from-pub deal, and resident dogs who'll greet you at the door. Three minutes from the station on Victoria Road.
Why we love it
Reopened in March 2025 under new independent ownership and quickly became Surbiton's go-to for sports, live music, and weekday working. The £15 Work & Play deal — sandwich, WiFi, and a pint — is genuinely hard to beat.
The Elm Tree sits on Victoria Road, a three-minute walk from Surbiton Station. It reopened in March 2025 under new independent ownership with a full refurbishment — the exterior went from dark blue to bright green, and inside the space is big enough to absorb a match-day crowd without feeling rammed. Five large screens carry Sky Sports and TNT Sport: football, rugby, NFL, tennis, boxing, motorsports, and GAA. The pub is one of the few in the area that shows Gaelic games, which pulls a loyal crowd. Thursday nights belong to Jam-Pact — a house band kicks off at 8:15pm with a guest set, then the stage opens for an open jam from 8:45pm till close. Saturdays bring booked live bands from 8:30pm. Sundays have a quiz at 5:30pm (£2.50 per person, £50 bar tab for the winners). Dogs are welcome — the pub's own Great Dane and British Bulldog are part of the furniture. **Weekday deals worth knowing:** - **Work & Play** (Mon–Fri, 10am–5pm): £15 for unlimited tea/coffee, sandwich with fries, WiFi, power points, plus a pint or G&T - **Toasties & soup** (Mon–Fri, 12–3pm): £5.95 - **2-for-1 cocktails** (Mon–Fri, 4–7pm) - **2-for-1 burgers or pizza** (Mon & Tue, all day) - **Steak night** (Wed): 8oz ribeye, fries, salad, and a drink for £17.95 - **Fish & Chips Friday**: Fish and chips with a drink for £20 Guinness comes from original Irish taps.
