The Spring Grove
A tucked-away Young's pub on a quiet residential street near the Kingston–Surbiton border, serving since 1867. Large garden, open fires in winter, and a proper all-day food menu with well-regarded Sunday roasts.
Why we love it
The hidden-gem pub that locals keep to themselves. You walk past houses, wonder if you've gone wrong, and then find a charming pub with one of the best gardens in the area waiting at the end of the street.
The Spring Grove has been here since 1867, and it still feels like the kind of pub you have to be told about. Bloomfield Road is a quiet residential street off the Kingston–Surbiton border — no passing trade, no signage on a main road. You walk past the houses, start to doubt yourself, and then there it is. Inside, it's a Young's pub done in a smart modern style — open-plan with three distinct drinking and dining areas. Open fires in winter make it a genuine year-round option. Two regular Young's cask ales (London Original and London Special) plus up to three rotating guests, often locally sourced. The garden is the main draw and the pub's own website calls it "Kingston's Best Pub Garden." It's large, with a covered decked area that means a bit of drizzle doesn't send everyone inside. On long summer evenings the tucked-away location keeps it quieter than the more central beer gardens. Food is served all day from noon to 10pm — a seasonally changing British menu with locally sourced ingredients. The Sunday roast is the anchor of the weekly menu. Head Chef Abdu runs the kitchen. Family-friendly until 9pm, dog-friendly throughout, and there's a Wednesday quiz night at 7:30pm if you want a reason to become a regular. Accessible via ramp with accessible WC. Street parking is metered until evening, free on Sundays. Kingston station is about a 15-minute walk. **Opening hours:** - Mon–Thu: 11am–11pm - Fri–Sat: 11am–midnight - Sun: noon–10:30pm **[View menus and book a table →](https://www.thespringgrove.co.uk)**
