Avocadium
Independent healthy-brunch café and specialty coffee spot on Surbiton Road, on the Kingston side of the Surbiton border. Avocado-forward menu with strong vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Why we love it
Clean, veg-friendly brunch done properly — acai bowls, avo benedicts, and serious coffee, a few minutes from Surbiton High School.
Avocadium does exactly what the name promises: avocado-forward brunch, built around healthy and environmentally-minded cooking. It sits on Surbiton Road, just over on the Kingston side of the Kingston/Surbiton border — an easy walk from Surbiton High School, which makes it a quiet little find for anyone otherwise stuck killing time on the school run.
The kitchen leans clean without being worthy about it. The Avo Benedict is the house signature, but the menu spreads wider than the avocado obsession suggests — Eggs Royale, a Mexican Benedict, and a beetroot hummus version for the plant-based crowd. The sweet side runs to Rainbow Pancakes, banana and strawberry waffles, and a granola banana split. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free eaters are properly catered for here rather than treated as an afterthought, and the produce is locally sourced where it can be.
Beyond brunch there’s specialty coffee, detox juices, and the colourful Acai Smoothie Bowl that the Instagram handle (@avocadium_delirium) was clearly built for. They also handle catering — grazing tables, food and cake boxes — for when the occasion outgrows a café table.
Local’s Tip: It’s a few minutes from Surbiton High School, which makes it the sensible place to wait out the school-run window with a flat white and an acai bowl rather than sitting in the car.
